The employee will develop construction policies and practices, provide guidance, solutions to problems, answers to questions and recommendations concerning contract administration and software system development and implementation. The employee will be responsible for researching and testing software and equipment necessary for the successful utilization of the e-construction program. This position is responsible for development, implementation, and monitoring of e-construction technology including, but not limited to, SharePoint, Share Plus, tablets, HiCAMS, e-ticketing, electronic plans, and other applicable e-construction technologies. The primary purpose of this position is to promote uniform construction and contract administration practices statewide using e-construction technology. The staff of the Construction Unit provides administrative support and technical assistance to the 14 Divisions to ensure our construction program is administered appropriately statewide. The primary purpose of the Construction Unit is the overall administration of all contract construction projects and to serve as a consultant to the other NCDOT units, branches, and industry partners on all matters pertaining to construction. The Construction Unit is responsible for establishing policies and procedures and providing oversight to the contract construction program.
